THE DESIGN
The Optimist is one of the most successful boats ever designed currently found in over 100 countries world wide. The Optimist is the ideal boat for learning, training and racing for youngsters under the age of 15.
The design of the Optimist has been thoroughly tested over a twelve month period and thus ensures that it is one of the best available. The fact that it has been carefully developed to take advantage of the very strict one design rules and that we place great emphasis on attention to the smallest detail, has enabled us to produce one of the best finished and highest quality Optimist dinghies you will find.
To ensure a fast, light, but stiff hull, with the required level of longevity we have utilised an advanced regulated vacuum finishing technique which we have been using for over 10yrs. This process guarantees a long lasting and very competitive boat. Throughout the construction, top quality biaxial cloth and high density foam has been used in conjunction with the highest grade polyester isophalic resins.
The Optimist is the only UK GRP built boat currently available. All boats are supplied complete and ready to sail with class registration and measurement certificate.
We offer three specifications of boat, each carefully designed to cater for a specific sector of the Optimist market.

Optimist Model - The Regatta
Our mid level One design Optimist, built to the same exacting standards as our top level Championship boat, is an ideal club racing or open meeting dinghy. Although fitted to a slightly lower specification than the Championship boat, The Regatta remains ideal for the majority of sailors and very competitive. It is guaranteed to provide many hours of enjoyment, and if required the Regatta can easily be upgraded to the same specification as our Championship boat.
The Regatta Specification:
• One design Optimist, minimum weight hull.
• Optiparts silver "Regatta" spars.
• Race mainsail.
• GRP race profile rudder and daggerboard, alloy tiller.
• Toe straps.
• Ball bearing mainsheet blocks including autoratchet.
• Adjustable mast foot.
• Maximum volume buoyancy bags.
• Complete class measurement certificate and registration.
• White hull and light grey deck.

Optimist Model - The Championship
The top level racing Optimist, fitted to the highest standards and specification, the Championship is a real winner. Minimum weight, but maximum stiffness, the Championship demonstrates our careful attention to detail. Fitted throughout with the highest quality fittings, this boat will be the one to watch at open meetings and championships, both in the UK and abroad.
The Regatta Specification:
• One design Optimist, minimum weight hull.
• Optiparts "black gold" race specification mast, boom and sprit.
• Choice of Speed, Olympic or Toni Tio mainsail.
• Laminated and epoxy sheathed wooden rudder and daggerboard.
• Padded toe straps.
• Harken mainsheet blocks including ratchet.
• Adjustable mast foot.
• Maximum volume buoyancy bags.
• Complete class measurement certificate and registration.
• White hull and deck.
(The Championship can be catered to individual specifications, particularly in regard to sail and spar combinations. Other hull and deck colours are available, - please ask for details).
